This is a wiki about The Astral Diaries, the webcomic series by AstralKoi. (Technically not actually a wiki, since it isn’t user-editable.) At the moment, it’s mostly character pages. This site is not affiliated with AstralKoi and is licensed CC BY-SA. No effort has yet been made to fix the layout on mobile, use a desktop or laptop when viewing. Astral Magic is a type of magic connected to light and the stars. It was originally practiced by an ancient desert people. Magic ability is passed down generationally from a mother to her eldest daughter (though there seem to be exceptions, such as Danna having magic while her mother doesn’t), so it is only accessible to women. Magicians generally wear a resonator around their neck. Astral Magic is found in nature in the Astral Forest and the various Astral Beings that inhabit it. It is quite dangerous; the forest itself is only navigable to skilled magicians, the surroundings are dangerous at night, the Astral Beings are fickle creatures, and magic abuse has mental health side effects. Astral Magic can be studied from books (such as the Book of [the] Journeys) - though they are often written in unusual scripts.
The Astral Forest is a forest near the Weiss’ home, which manifests the nightmares of the people of the valley (?). Only those knowledgeable about the forest and its astral inhabitants can safely traverse it, or (at night) the surroundings. Presumably, the forest becomes stronger at night since astral magic pulls its power from the stars. Due to the presence of the Astral Forest, the surroundings are sparsely populated, with a few closed communities as well.
Astral Beings are creatures of various forms and a short lifespan (unless named). Some are more dangerous than others. Henry is one of them.
Lower entities from the astral realm eats emotions, memories and feelings, sometimes they can eat meat if there are not another option.

Resonators are worn around the neck and consist of a chain connected to a bright white, sometimes glowing, sphere. They are worn by magicians; Danna Brown, Deneb Weiss, and Amanda Weiss (in art outside the main comic, further down the timeline when she is a magician) can be seen wearing them. They can move on their own, trying to lead the owner in a particular direction.
Hazel Hills is a gated community south of the Weiss’ home.
Deneb Weiss was the mother of Remy and Amanda Weiss. She was a magician and wore a resonator. She committed suicide a few years before the events of the comic. Magic abuse may have been a factor, given its mental health effects.

Aldo Weiss is a widower and the father of Remy and Amanda Weiss. He is currently at Subarctic Base.

Amanda Weiss is the older sister of Remy Weiss. She lives alone with Remy; they recently moved to the valley from a desert. She is taking care of Remy for her father, who is currently at Subarctic Base. She enjoys astronomy. As the eldest daughter of Deneb Weiss, she inherited her mother’s magical abilities, but this has yet to come up in the mainline series.
The tarot card that represents her is “The Magician.”

Remy Weiss is the younger sister of Amanda Weiss. She lives alone with Amanda; they recently moved to the valley from a desert. She is excitable, impulsive, and distractable. She is currently taking an unspecified medication for her anxiety.

Mary Birch is the only therapist in the valley. That, or she may be a psychologist. Danna Brown is one of her clients. Ivonne, Olive, and Alessa would presumably also be her clients, since all three have the same psychologist.

Danna Brown is a 14-year-old local that lives in Hazel Hills. She is capable of navigating the Astral Forest, being knowledgeable about it and the supernatural entities in and around it. She almost never smiles , and is sometimes suicidal. She is in therapy with Mary Birch, at the behest of her mother. She lives with her mother and her cousin. She is often seen wearing a cat mask, especially when she is with the other three masked troublemakers, Alessa, Olive, and Ivonne, who are a wolf, a squirrel, and an owl, though not necessarily in that order.
“In my story, the consequences of magic abuse are used as a metaphor for schizoid personality traits, emotional detachment, isolation, and inner fragmentation, most in Danna, a lonely girl who tries to overcome herself.”

She sometimes wears a resonator, though it’s often hidden under her shirt. She is sometimes seen with rabbit dolls; according to AstralKoi, “Danna made them. Each one is possessed by a spirit and has its own personality.”
She will have a crush on Amanda , but it hasn’t come up yet in the main comic.
The tarot card that represents her is “The Priestess.”
Mrs. Brown is Danna Brown’s mother. Their family moves frequently.
Dorian Brown is Danna Brown’s father. He doesn’t seem to live with her; he is only mentioned as the unheard other half of a phone call with her mother. Their relationship seems to be strained, nonetheless they appear to still be married, as Mrs. Brown is referred to as “Mrs.” and not “Ms.” or “Miss.” Damascus Brown was his father.
Damascus Brown was a grandfather of Danna Brown, and father of Dorian Brown.
Alessa is a friend of Olive and Ivonne. Together with Danna (who she is quite protective of), they were a group of four masked troublemakers in the valley. Despite looking similar, Alessa is probably not Danna’s sister. Cousin Brown considers them both to be the same kind of crazy.

Ketlan is a local from the valley. He has an adoptive brother, Huu. They sell produce together.

Henry is an Astral Being from the Astral Forest. It was captured by Remy Weiss and likes marmalade. It has a longer lifespan than most of its kind due to having a name. Between episode #24 mentioning that Henry was “where it all started”, and it appearing frequently in artwork outside the main comic, it is expected to be important.
Not to be confused with Ernesto the bird.
Ernesto is a reoccuring supernatural being. It is aware of the fate of the universe and many other frightening things, but still enjoys tea and a good book.
